About…

…the Blog

www.AdamDiStefano.com is my view of the world of marketing and advertising on the web. Its purpose is to serve as a platform for discussion about the ideas and issues in the industry, as well as those that affect small and medium-sized businesses. In addition to discussing and learning, the blog can serve as a resource for marketers, copywriters, and businesses.

Most blogs that cover these topics are trying to sell something. I am not here to sell you anything. I want to share my knowledge, and in the process learn from others. On this site, you’ll find practical information, observations and experiments.

…Me

Adam headshotI’m an e-media and advertising specialist at Yellow Pages Group, located in Montreal, Quebec. I’m also a writer and freelancer, and have been a director of food services and a legal counsel.

My eclectic career began in 2006 when I graduated with distinction from McGill University’s Faculty of Law. I took a job as in-house counsel for a company in Southeastern Connecticut handling their employees’ visa and immigration issues. This funneled into a job as the company’s director of food services. In 2008, when my US work visa expired, I returned to Montreal, knowing only that I was through with practicing law. I continued to write freelance, which I had been doing since 2003, and also began working for the Yellow Pages Group as one of their first experts in Search Engine Marketing (SEM). Since then, I’ve expanded my interest and expertise into several other areas of marketing.

I’m also an author of fiction, and in 2009, I decided to take my fiction writing more seriously. I committed to writing 52 short stories in a single year. I chronicle this process at my other blog, 52 Short Stories.

It’s impossible to get to know a person from a short bio section, but here’s a quick list of facts about me in no particular order:

- I am fluent in English and French, and after a few beers, conversational in Spanish
- I am scared to death of sharks
- My favourite novel is On the Road, but my favourite author is Ernest Hemingway
- I love traveling, but don’t do nearly enough of it
- I used to write a fashion column for askmen.com (if you know me, you are now laughing)
- When I was a kid, I wanted to be a NBA player when I grew up.  Unfortunately, I didn’t grow enough
- When I’m not in front of a computer, I like to run, play soccer and snowboard
- I’ve been trying to learn how to play the guitar for close to ten years now
- I get bored easily
